When it comes to cozy comfort food, nothing hits quite like a hearty pot of chili simmering away on the stove. This Beer Chili brings all the bold, smoky flavor with a twist — we’re using our Kick A$$ Chili Seasoning and a splash of your favorite beer to create layers of rich, savory goodness. Ingredients
-
1 lb ground beef
-
1 pound ground pork
- 1 yellow onion, diced
-
2 bell pepper, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 Tbsp bacon grease
-
4 tablespoons Tiger Life Kick A$$ Chili Seasoning, divided
-
1 (12 oz) bottle of beer of choice
-
2 (15 oz) can beans of choice (pinto, kidney, red) drained and rinsed
-
1 (28 oz) can diced or whole tomatoes
-
2/3 cup bbq sauce
Optional toppings:
-
shredded cheese, diced avocado, sour cream, or green onions
Directions
- Sauté the base: Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add onions and bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
Brown the meat: Add ground meat and season with 2 Tbsp Kick A$$ Chili seasoning. Cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary. Remove from pot and set aside.
Add flavor: Add bacon grease to pot. Stir in minced garlic and saute quickly to avoid burning. Immediately add onions and bell peppers and saute for 5 minutes.
Deglaze with beer: Pour in the beer, scraping up any bits stuck to the bottom of the pan. Add beans and tomatoes to pot. Season with 2 Tbsp Kick A$$ Chili.
Build your chili: Add ground meat back in and bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low. Stir in bbq sauce.
Simmer: Cover and simmer for at least 30 minutes (or up to an hour for deeper flavor), stirring occasionally.
Recipe Note
- You can substitute any beer you love — darker beers add a rich, malty depth, while light lagers keep it smooth and mild.
- Make it vegetarian by swapping the meat for more beans or lentils and the bacon grease for olive oil.
- This chili freezes beautifully — perfect for meal prepping ahead of busy weeks.
